Support adequate sleep hours for middle and high school students! August 28, 2018 CMA Highschool, Middle School, Sleep Senator Anthony Portantino has introduced SB 328, which would require the regular school day for middle and high school students to start no earlier than 8:30 a.m. (beginning July 1, 2020), to ensure adequate sleep for children in this age group. A growing body of research indicates that chronic sleep deprivation is prevalent among adolescents, with early school-start times among the contributing factors. Adolescents who do not get enough sleep have an increased risk of physical and mental health problems. SB 328 could be heard on the Assembly floor as early as today! Contact your Assemblymember now.
