Survey Confirms Physicians Have the Blues Over the Blues

CMA has received complaints from physicians regarding Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s refusal to honor assignment of benefits, highlighting the burden and cost it places on the physician practice to act as debt collectors rather than physicians, and in many cases, this policy has jeopardized the physician-patient relationship. CMA conducted a survey completed by over 1,100 physician practices to obtain additional information about what criteria they consider when deciding whether to contract with a payor.

SB 1318 Moves Out of Senate Committee

The bill aimed to improve public health passes – SB 1318 (Wolk) – moved out of the Senate Labor and Industrial Relations Committee on Wednesday afternoon. SB 1318 requires all health care workers in health care facilities, including physicians, to either receive the influenza vaccination or wear a mask in patient care areas during flu season.

After Hours Medical Clinic Fills Void in San Francisco

San Francisco's first After Hours Medical Clinic for busy families, residents, and tourists open its doors in March 2012. Staffed by family physicians, the clinic provides much needed non-office, after-hours medical care at reduced cost for both patients and insurers.
