Brown’s Budget May Revision Increases Medi-Cal Spending But Does Not Reverse Provider Reimbursement Cuts

Governor Jerry Brown released his revised $156.2 billion budget plan in May 2014. While Brown’s proposal would take the bulk of an unexpected state tax revenue windfall to cover vastly expanded enrollment in the state's Medi-Cal program, the revised budget does not reverse the 10% Medi-Cal reimbursement cuts imposed in 2011.

2013-2014 California State Budget and Its Impact on Physicians

The 2013-2014 California state budget as passed includes a number of significant actions impacting SFMS and our physicians, including the adoption of the MCO tax, enacting the ‘optional expansion’ of Medi-Cal to childless adults pursuant to federal healthcare reform, reauthorizing the Coordinated Care Initiative/Duals Pilots, and passage of a $200 million mental health wellness package.

SFMS Legislative Update: Gov. Brown, Legislative Democrats Budget Deal Does Not Include Fix for Medi-Cal Cuts

On June 10, Gov. Jerry Brown and legislative Democrats reached a budget agreement for fiscal year 2013-2014, which includes increased spending on health and human services. The deal does not include a fix for the 10% Medi-Cal rate cuts.
