Primary Care Psychiatry Training for Primary Care Providers

For the past three years, UC Irvine and UC Davis have partnered with the California Psychiatric Association to provide a winter conference: Essentials in Primary Care Psychiatry, as well as offering an award-winning year-long training program, the UC Irvine/UC Davis Train New Trainers Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship. Both are geared towards strengthening the behavioral health skills of primary care providers who are faced with these patient needs every day and are often unable to find further support in the community. The conference is a two-day intensive interactive primer on primary care psychiatry diagnosis and treatment which will augment the skills of even the most seasoned provider. The fellowship is a rigorous first-of-its-kind training program which sees its yearly graduates calm, confident, and capable of managing complicated mental health and substance abuse issues that walk in the door.
