Annual Call for CMA Award Applications/Nominations May 28, 2019 CMA award, cma 0 The California Medical Association (CMA) annually honors inspirational physician members with the following awards during the House of Delegates. CMA is now accepting nominations for the following awards: 2019 COMPASSIONATE SERVICE AWARD $1,000 stipend and recognition plaque This award best illustrates the association’s commitment to community and charity care. Nomination eligibility: active physicians or physician organizations who have demonstrated a history of providing charity or donated care to communities within the state of California. The selection process will focus heavily on services donated by physicians, or organizations, to the indigent or services rendered to charitable groups. 2019 DEV A. GNANADEV MEMBERSHIP AWARD $1,000 stipend and recognition plaque This award demonstrates a special or unique effort toward membership recruitment resulting in membership growth in their area during the past year. 2019 GARY NYE, M.D., AWARD This award honors significant contributions toward improving physician health and wellness. The CMA Physicians’ and Dentists’ Confidential Line Committee acts as the nominating committee to the House of Delegates. 2019 FREDERICK K.M. PLESSNER MEMORIAL AWARD $1,000 stipend and commemorative silver bowl This award best exemplifies the practice and ethics of a rural practitioner. Nomination eligibility: physicians currently in active practice or recently retired, i.e., retired from active practice for a period of no longer than three years. The selection process shall take into consideration services donated by the physician to the indigent or services rendered to charitable groups. All nominations must reflect active CMA membership from a physician residing and practicing in California.
