Prop 29: Good vs. Evil Did you pay any taxes last year? If so, and even if you don’t smoke tobacco, some of your money went to pay for the costs of tobacco-related disease—and helped put money into tobacco industry coffers as well. SFMS/CMA Oppose Expansion of Dual Eligible Managed Care Pilot Program Governor Jerry Brown continues to push to move all “dual eligibles”—patients covered through both Medi-Cal and Medicare—into managed care. Prop 29's Edgy Video Attacks Big Tobacco’s Lies The Yes on Proposition 29 campaign continues to receive a “digital boost” with the release of a YouTube viral video ("California Supports Big Tobacco"). The video exposes the deceitful campaign being waged by Big Tobacco against the June 5 initiative that will raise the price of a pack of cigarettes by one dollar. This extra dollar will only be paid by those who purchase tobacco products. If you don’t smoke, you don’t pay. The extra dollar will fund life-saving research, keep kids from smoking and help smokers quit.
