Youth Advocacy & SFMMS Help to Move Tobacco Sales Ban Forward in Tiburon October 21, 2025 Advocacy 0 On October 15th, the Tiburon Town Council, located in Marin County, unanimously voted to ban the retail sale of all tobacco vaping products, making Tiburon the first city in America to ban tobacco products without exception. Thanks to the advocacy of the county health department’s Youth Advocacy Committee, the ban was approved. SFMMS President-Elect, Dr. Sarita Satpathy, and SFMMS Past-President, Dr. John Maa, were in attendance to provide testimony during the meeting. “Vaping is the path to nicotine addiction and smoking. This visionary action championed by these high school students can serve as an inspiration to re-energize and reinvigorate efforts across our nation to achieve the tobacco endgame.” said Dr. Satpathy. SFMMS is proud to continue our long-standing advocacy efforts against tobacco and nicotine products, ensuring the improvement of health outcomes in all communities.
