MMS Awards Dinner attracts full house

The large dining room at Jason's Restaurant was full on Wednesday evening, Sept. 28, as MMS honored individual physicians and recognized a community-wide project. MMS President Dr. Peter Bretan acted as emcee for the event with more than 70 doctors, spouses and guests in attendance. A special note of gratitude to our event sponsors: Healthy Marin Partnership, Marin Health & Human Services, MIEC, and Sutter Health Novato Community Hospital.

The first award, for Outstanding Contribution to Marin Community Health went to Dr. David Witt, presented by Dr. Grant Colfax. Dr. Julia Haimowitz presented the Outstanding Contribution to Marin County Medicine award to Dr. Jeffrey Schneider, and Dr. Naveen Kumar presented the Outstanding Contribution to MMS award to Dr. Lori Selleck.

Dr. Irina deFischer presented the first Article of the Year award to Dr. Gail Altschuler for her article "Healthy Weight, Healthy Pregnancy," which appeared in the spring/summer 2015 issue of Marin Medicine magazine. Dr. Matt Willis concluded the evening by presenting MMS's 2016 Recognition of Achievement award to RxSafe Marin. Watch for event photos in the upcoming fall/winter issue of Marin Medicine.
